We have a very active Volunteer program and are delighted to welcome local and international volunteers at CROW. As a charity organisation there are always more mouths to feed than hands to feed them, so every helping hand is greatly appreciated.  We have a volunteer house that accommodates up to 8 volunteers at a time, and includes 3 basic meals a day. Advance booking is advised as CROW is very popular with volunteers.

Volunteer duties and responsibilities are linked with level of experience so we have something for everyone, from feeds to assisting nurses in the clinic to grounds work to assisting in rescues and releases..... we have approximately 300 - 400 animals under our care at any given time, all of which are wildlife indigenous to Kwa Zulu Natal, from birds and mammals to raptors and reptiles, and many monkeys ...

In July 2010 CROW entered into a partnership with Wild At Tuli Safaris, Botswana, in order to offer you an even more varied and exciting experience with us. They are based in the Tuli Block in south eastern Botswana in a Big Five REAL wilderness area where there are no fences and where you will see animals as they should be living, totally wild.

The uniqueness of this aspect of the project is that we are able to arrange for you to go there before coming to CROW and you will attend training courses on:

1. Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation

2. Introduction To Bird Identification.

The courses are held in their tented camp where you will stay and are presented by Dr Helena Fitchat and Mrs Judi Gounaris, both of whom are Trustees of CROW and who have been operationally involved in CROW for many years. You will leave them with a very good understanding of what CROW is all about and what you can expect when you get to CROW. You will be taken on game drives and gain practical experience in identifying birds and you are quite likely to see elephant, zebra, kudu, impala, wildebeest and a host of other animals who live on their reserve.

We have a partnership with a tour company that  offers tours and entertainment for your evenings and days off at very discounted rates... whether you would like to go pub hopping at the local hotspots, or would like to spend a  weekend away at a game reserve they can put together something to suit your needs.
